What is Stemming?

Stemming is a powerful feature that uses algorithms to reduce a word to its stem or root form. Technically it introduces performance benefits to searches, in practice it makes it possible to return searches based on comparable of the stem. For example, searching for "Pierhouse" may return "Pierhouse", "Pierhouses", even "Pier", "Piers" or "Pierce".
